As I begin to compile a post for this week, it occurs to me that the coming weeks and months are going to be tough and that my desire to keep sane, and keep running is going to do battle (once again) with the strain of keeping to a structured training plan. So to spur myself (and maybe you) on I am posting some info on the events I am looking to compete in later this year.
The Trail Porn
Rapid Ascent teased the social networks with this event earlier in the week. It takes place a couple of weeks after the Marysville Marathon – which is the one I am primarily training for. I think I will need to add some serious hill climbing treadmill sessions to the second quarter of my training.
The Race
Marysville Trail Marathon will be my first foray into 42K+ distances.
The plan is to train for distance (obviously) but this is a trail marathon so I need to train for hills too. So I am thinking that by incorporating hill training specific to the Vertical K, I can improve my hill chances on the marathon and I can use my fitness gains from the marathon to push me up the 8 kilometre Vertical K course.
I know it is a big ask on my body. Independent of themselves, these are two events are very serious runs. But that is part of the challenge right?
